What is a Pathfinder?

A Pathfinder is a collection of resources for a teacher's use that covered a specific topic taught in class. For example, the Civil War in social studies, The Great Gatsby in English, acids and bases in Chemistry, and so on.

A Pathfinder accumulates and stores various types of resources (websites, journals, books, videos, etc.) that would help a person research that specific topic and learn more about it without having to dig through mounds of information.

It is a great way to ensure that students are getting access to

high-quality resources without having to reinvent the

wheel every year!

Pathfinder Highlights

There are six types of resources available:

  • print resources available at the high school library

  • print resources available at the Farmington Public Library

  • websites

  • textbook articles

  • technological applications.

The print resources will have the call number (how you find the book in the library) and a brief description of what you will find in that resource.
