We're continuing on our adventure of discovering the new books the media center has to offer. This week, we cover 6 books from all different genres!

Dividing Eden
Twins Carys and Andreus knew they would never have to worry about fighting over the throne. Their older brother was the first in line and would assume the throne; however, when the king and crown prince of Eden are assassinated, the whole kingdom is thrown into turmoil as there is not clear line of succession with the twins. Now, the twins must square off to fight for the crown in the Trial of Succession. Can Carys and Andreus maintain their relationship, or will they betray each other, the closest person in their lives, to get the crown?
I adore anything related to a monarchy, so this is right up my alley. Hopefully, it intrigues you as well! It is classified as Fantasy, so there is a twist in there (like magic, vampires, faeries, ghosts) that we won't see coming!

Refugee
This historical fiction book covers the stories of three different refugee children from three different time periods and three different countries.
Josef is a Jewish boy escaping Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Isabel is a Cuban girl escaping political unrest and riots in the 1990s. Then there is Mahmoud, a Syrian boy escaping a Civil war that is decimating his home in 2015. This books is about the harrowing journeys children have had to take for decades in order to find safety and a new home.
I think these stories will be so different from what we experience in our lives, we will have a lot to learn from these words.

Thornhill
This is a very unique book because it was two plot lines throughout. You're probably thinking two plot lines in the same book is not unique. And you'd be right. What is unique is that these plot lines are told in completely two different styles: diary entries vs. graphic novel.
Ella’s story is told in bold graphics and artwork. Ella moves next door to the Thornhill Institute for Children and tries to befriend an orphan, Mary, who lives there. Ella also tries to discover the secrets that lie within Thornhill because, naturally, there are secrets. The other character perspective is told through diary entries from Mary who lives at the orphanage. Mary takes revenge against a bully that torments the children at Thornhill, starting a domino effect of consequences that jeopardizes everyone involved.
